Consumer Regulatory Senior Associate | Leading National Team | International Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid BCL Legal is delighted to be supporting a leading law firm looking for an experienced Consumer Regulatory Senior Associate to join its growing Commercial team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a consumer regulatory lawyer to advise household-name clients across the food, retail, FMCG and hospitality sectors on complex regulatory, compliance and risk matters. The Opportunity: This role offers the chance to work on high-profile and strategically important matters, providing practical, commercially focused advice to clients operating in fast-moving consumer markets. You will join a collaborative and expanding team, supporting clients on a broad range of consumer protection, product compliance, sustainability and product safety issues. You will have the opportunity to work on both UK and cross-border matters, advising major brands and businesses on emerging regulatory challenges and helping them navigate evolving expectations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising clients on consumer protection, product compliance, product safety, labelling, marketing and advertising matters
• Supporting businesses with product risk management, including regulatory strategy, incident response, withdrawals and recalls
• Advising on sustainability issues and green claims, helping clients manage regulatory and enforcement risks
• Assisting clients with regulatory investigations and engagement with bodies such as Trading Standards, the CMA and other regulators
• Supporting cross-border matters alongside colleagues across the wider network
• Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to the development of the wider team

What We're Looking For: We are seeking a commercially minded solicitor with strong experience in consumer regulatory, commercial or regulatory work. The successful candidate will have excellent technical ability and the confidence to provide clear, practical advice to leading consumer-facing businesses. Key Requirements:

• Qualified solicitor with at least six years' experience gained within a strong consumer regulatory, commercial or regulatory team
• Experience advising on consumer protection, product compliance, product safety and regulatory risk
• Knowledge of consumer-facing regulatory frameworks, investigations and regulator engagement
• Experience working with clients in sectors such as retail, FMCG, food, hospitality or manufacturing
• Strong drafting, advisory and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships
• Experience supervising junior lawyers and supporting team development
