Science Teacher - Leading Independent School in Birmingham
We are delighted to be working with a respected independent day school in North Birmingham seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher from January. This is a full-time, permanent role teaching across Key Stages 3–5, including GCSE and A-Level Biology, Chemistry or Physics, depending on specialism.
About the Role
You will join a forward-thinking Science department that places practical investigation, curiosity, and discovery at the heart of its teaching. The role involves delivering engaging and hands-on lessons that build scientific understanding and enthusiasm across all year groups. The department is well-resourced, with modern laboratories, digital data tools, and specialist technicians providing excellent practical support. Staff are encouraged to lead extracurricular initiatives such as STEM clubs, Science Week events, and cross-curricular projects.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
- Has strong subject knowledge and passion for the sciences
- Can teach GCSE and/or A-Level Science (or is eager to develop this experience)
- Is organised, reflective, and committed to helping students achieve their potential
- Has the legal right to work in the UK
The School
Located in a leafy part of North Birmingham, this independent school educates pupils from early years through to Sixth Form and is known for its warm, inclusive ethos and strong academic results. Small class sizes and a focus on individual attention allow teachers to build meaningful relationships and deliver tailored learning experiences.
Students consistently achieve excellent outcomes at GCSE and A-Level, with a large proportion progressing to top universities to study STEM subjects. The school combines traditional values with a modern approach to learning, offering an engaging curriculum supported by extensive extracurricular opportunities. Facilities include newly refurbished science labs, a digital learning hub, and creative outdoor learning spaces.
Teachers benefit from a collaborative environment, regular CPD, free on-site parking, and an approachable senior leadership team that prioritises staff wellbeing and professional development.
Salary and Benefits
The post is paid on a competitive independent school scale, with enhancements available for experience and subject specialism. Staff enjoy access to excellent resources, supportive colleagues, and opportunities to contribute to the wider school community.
