KS1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Sutton Coldfield A wonderful opportunity has become available for a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Sutton Coldfield. This is a full-time role, working 8:30am–3:30pm, and the school is looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping young children learn, grow, and develop during the crucial early years of their education. You will play a key role in supporting the class teacher, creating a positive learning environment, and helping pupils build confidence in their reading, writing, and early numeracy skills. About the Role: As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with daily classroom activities
  • Working with small groups of children to reinforce learning
  • Providing 1:1 support where needed to help pupils stay engaged and make progress
  • Helping to prepare learning materials and classroom resources
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting a nurturing, inclusive atmosphere
  • Assisting with phonics, early literacy, and basic maths activities
  • Supporting children’s social and emotional development throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For We would love to hear from you if you:
  • Have experience working with children in a school, nursery, or childcare setting (essential)
  • Hold a Childcare or Education-related qualification (preferred but not essential)
  • Are patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting young children
  • Can build warm, positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Are reliable, proactive, and confident working as part of a team
  • Have a genuine passion for helping children thrive academically and emotionally

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
